- Commerce-related conversation share rose 23% from January to September 2026.
- The analysis covered 1.8 million anonymized Singapore ChatGPT and Gemini conversations.
- An October Bazaarvoice partnership links AI visibility analysis with reviews and user-generated content.

Profound plans to fill more than 15 local roles in Singapore over the next 12 months, according to its November 2 announcement, as the AI-search marketing company establishes an Asia Pacific headquarters.
It expects to open an office in Singapore’s central business district in the fourth quarter of 2026. Singapore will house leadership and customer and go-to-market teams serving Southeast Asia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Hiring will cover regional management, sales, engagement and account management, while some New York staff may relocate for one year to establish operations.
What does Profound’s expansion establish?
The announcement gives no customer count, revenue mix or team-size breakdown, so an office opening cannot establish broad regional adoption. Profound’s product sits at the intersection of brand strategy, search analytics and marketing execution; the company argues that customer context and local market knowledge make a regional team useful.
Co-founder and CEO James Cadwallader framed the opportunity in the announcement: AI is “the new front door to every business.” That statement sets the market narrative, but the announcement provides no regional adoption rate to test it.
Does AI shopping research show buying demand?
Profound’s analysis of 1.8 million anonymized Singapore conversations with ChatGPT and Gemini found a 23% relative increase from January to September 2026 in the share discussing research, comparison or purchase of products and services.
That is neither a 23-percentage-point increase nor a conversion rate. It measures conversation mix, not purchases. Profound did not disclose enough about sampling, intent classification or representativeness for independent assessment, so the result remains a directional, vendor-supplied signal rather than proof of market demand.
Conventional search rewards ranked pages; an AI answer can name, compare, paraphrase or omit a brand inside one response. Marketers need to separate three outcomes: whether a brand appears, whether the recommendation is sound and whether the interaction creates a commercial result.
Visibility can become a reporting metric before anyone proves it produces revenue. Treating AI citations as leads collapses that distinction, particularly for teams assessing a new category from vendor-supplied evidence.
How does Profound move from measurement to action?
Profound began with AI-search visibility tracking and expanded into an agent-supported marketing workbench. Its September product update described AI Marketer as a tool for finding opportunities and coordinating competitive analysis, content updates and paid campaign work. The update also described Context Manager, which brings brand and team information into those workflows.
Finding an omission does not tell a marketer which product page, review or third-party source deserves attention. Acting on the gap may require SEO, communications, customer-content and paid-media teams that do not normally share one operating dashboard. The announcement offers no team-size threshold for deciding who can run that work alone.
Profound faces services with overlapping measurement capabilities but different product scope and workflows. Its platform combines answer monitoring with an AI marketing agent and campaign tools; Semrush pairs AI brand-visibility tracking with established search-marketing tools; Peec AI tracks mentions and prompts, benchmarks competitors and analyzes cited sources.
What links visibility to customer action?
An October partnership with Bazaarvoice connected Profound’s visibility analysis with product reviews and other user-generated content. The arrangement creates a path from finding a content gap in an AI answer to improving information that answer engines may encounter. It does not demonstrate that a specific change lifted purchases.
The strategic issue is coordination, not another dashboard. The more an agent can propose or perform, the more teams need to know who owns each decision, what evidence supports it and whether the change improved anything beyond a visibility score.
Which controls should APAC marketing teams test?
Profound’s expansion reaches beyond organic-search specialists: brand positioning, product data, public relations and paid media can shape what buyers encounter before reaching a website. The announcement supports four checks, without specifying team-size thresholds:
- Discovery stage: Treat mentions and recommendations as exposure signals. Evaluate lead quality and commercial outcomes independently during consideration and decision stages; the 23% conversation increase cannot stand in for conversion.
- Source audit: Check product detail pages, reviews and external coverage because these materials can shape how AI systems describe a brand. Monitoring alone may not be enough, as the Bazaarvoice partnership illustrates.
- Brand context: Test whether Context Manager applies approved claims, product information and tone accurately. Availability of context does not prove faithful use.
- Accountability: Ask about system access, human approval, measurement and rollback. The November announcement established no specific human approval controls for Profound workflows, so buyers must validate them directly.
AI discovery makes this an organizational question. Search visibility once sat mainly with specialists; answer-led buying now asks brand, content, public-relations and paid-media teams to agree on what a company should be known for and how to verify that message reached customers.
Singapore’s role remains a regional service base, not a guarantee of results. As more AI-marketing platforms establish local operations, the stronger test is whether teams can connect answer visibility to accurate content, accountable workflows and measurable customer decisions.
For Profound, the next proof point is more demanding than a rising visibility score: the company must show which mentions matter, why they occurred and what action improved a customer outcome.
